Get Tajdeed: a bilingual compliance calendar on one server

A bilingual SaaS product run on a single low-cost server

Get Tajdeed's 12-month calendar of UAE company deadlines.

Context

Get Tajdeed (gettajdeed.com, Arabic name تجديد) is a deadline calendar for small UAE companies, especially owners who live abroad. It tracks trade licence renewal, corporate tax, VAT, audited accounts, establishment card and visas, and shows each deadline with the official penalty and its source.

Owners get email reminders, and their accountant or PRO can log in too. The product works in English and Arabic, and it launched in 2026.

The challenge

A small SaaS product has to be reliable and secure from day one, but it cannot carry the running cost of a large cloud setup before it has customers.

Owners also needed a quick way to enter details from official documents without typing everything by hand, while keeping control of what gets saved.

What we did

  1. 1

Build one app for both languages

The product is a Next.js monorepo on PostgreSQL, with English and Arabic built in from the start.

  2. 2

Host it on one well-run server

It runs on a single AWS Lightsail server in Frankfurt (eu-central-1) behind a Caddy proxy with automatic HTTPS, and the infrastructure is defined in Terraform.

  3. 3

    Ship releases safely

A release script deploys each version and rolls back automatically if the new version fails.

  4. 4

    Read documents with AI

Google Gemini reads a photo of a trade licence or a government notice to pre-fill forms. The user confirms every value, and the files are not kept.

Results

  • A bilingual SaaS product run on a single low-cost server
  • Billing through Stripe with adaptive local-currency pricing
  • Transactional email through Amazon SES and Resend
